This technical note has been produced to provide technical information on access facilities for the disabled. Australian standard, AS 1428 Design for access and mobility parts 1 and 2 are referenced as Deemed-to-Satisfy requirements in the Plumbing Code of Australia. These standards list requirements of the layout and clearances for plumbing fixtures in access bathrooms. Licensed plumbing contractors need to be aware of the relevant clauses of AS 1428 that impact water supply and sanitary plumbing installations.
